All driver updates do is fix compatibility issues, which may increase performance on certain games slightly (or moderately , depending of severity of the bug fixed), but don't expect anything dramatic unless you were playing one hell of a buggy game.
Not only in this case, but you may also get this kind of error in many situations.
Solution to avoid this kind of errors is to update your systems graphics card driver. Your system may have Graphics card of Intel or NVIDIA or any company.
Mine is good enough for medium quality gaming on new games, but not much beyond that.
